Our Mission Statement The
Back Porch Energy Initiative's mission is to work with communities to
establish and ensure an environmentally sustainable future.
Making a Difference Energy initiatives used to be what people did in high-school science fairs or what companies were required to do to assure an environmentally friendly future. Now, energy initiatives are discussions at dinner tables and in political campaigns, and people are taking a proactive approach to their future. Visualizing the Need We've all watched the need grow, and last June a group of young professionals began organizing a response. The southeast has the highest per capita energy consumption values in the country, spending only one fifth the national averages on energy efficiency programs and resources, not to mention that our core team calls it home. So... Here we come! In October we'll be leaving for a 10 month tour of the Southeast, promoting and providing alternative energy initiatives through communities along the way.
